eBay 101 Selling on eBay For Part time or Full time Income Beginner to PowerSeller in 90 Days

User Ratings and Reviews

5 Stars Best reference for selling on eBay
This book not only is a great introduction to eBay, it’s the best reference book to selling on eBay I’ve seen because of the extensive glossary, index and guide to those odd acronymns. It’s also a realistic guide to selling — no rose-colored classes. There are not too many illustrations in here but the ones there are a big help. This book is a keeper, I’m going to keep it within arm’s reach. From the books I’ve seen, this one is the most up-to-date also.

5 Stars Another Steve Weber How-To Book
This book is the third Steve Weber book I have read, the first two being “The Home-Based Bookstore” and “Plug Your Book.” I was quite enthusiastic about both of Steve’s earlier efforts because they were extremely helpful and Steve wrote both well. Those comments apply to this book also.

The marvelous thing about this book is that it starts with the basics and works up to advanced techniques and clever strategies. When I say basics, I mean the kind of information that someone new to eBay would find helpful. What do certain words mean? How do I, and fill in the blank. Steve covers everything you can think of as a newcomer to eBay. Yet, Steve moves quickly and someone going from occasional seller to wondering about setting up a business can move past the basics easily.

What more is there to learn? Steve provides great advice on where to find more stuff for your eBay business. He also provides guidance for evaluating quality and describing your merchandise. All this advice keeps in mind the need to satisfy customers so that they will give you positive feedback and keep coming back.

Just like those popular television commercials, this is the point where I say, but wait, there is more! Steve discusses how to track stock and where it is located. He reviews several software options to handle an expanding enterprise. Included in his advice are options for the most cost effective method of shipping. Steve then provides a lot of detail on how you can expand your customer base through various techniques for advertising your business. I think there are at least half a dozen techniques for getting your business exposed on the internet, including how to fare well with Google searches.

I am touching on just a few of the numerous topics in the fifteen chapters in this book. There are at least 140 sub-headings in this book covering more topics than I had considered when thinking about selling on eBay. With all this powerful information, Steve did something more amazing; he included input from others. [...]

As with any purchase you make, what you want to know is whether this book is worth buying. If you fancy yourself expanding into eBay as a business, or expanding a current eBay business, or you just want to know how eBay works, then this book is worth far more than its price.

One thing I always notice about self-published books is how well they are written. I was unable to find a single grammar error in this book. Therefore, not only is this book full of valuable information, but that information is nicely organized and reading about that information is a pleasure.

Self-help books often seem like they need help themselves. I have read many self-help books by people claiming to be experts in their particular field of endeavor. When you read these books, you quickly realize that the book babbles on about trivialities or the organization is poor. Worse, some of these books have errors that even a novice recognizes. To find a well-written self-help book by an author who has successfully used the techniques in that book is always a wonder. “eBay 101″ is such a book.

Enjoy!

Note: The author provided me with a review copy of this book.

5 Stars ebay 101-buy it!
This is one of the first books out with the newer format on ebay. Easy reading, easy to understand. I recomend it.

4 Stars More Than Just 101
I started selling at eBay in 1995 when there were just 1200 items for sale and only two categories. And I thought I knew everything. Ha! Steve Weber’s book has everything. And as a past teacher trainer at Ohio State University and other institutions I can say that Steve wrote this book in the perfect style–large type, space between words and lines, and easy-to-read pictures of eBay screens.

My only advice to the reader is to realize that selling at eBay gets harder and harder as the years pass. Steve makes eBay selling sound like a sure bet. Believe me, it isn’t. Of course, he is so much more successful at it than I ever was. Hmmm-I think I’ll go back and read the book again and take notes.–Sam Yulish, author of “Where Have All the Hippies Gone?” and many publications for teachers.

5 Stars All the Tools you Need
Great book! Very insightful and readable. I’ve been selling on Ebay for 6 years and found this book to be both helpful for the beginner and the “Seasoned” Pro. All the Tools you’ll need you be successful selling online.

User Ratings and Reviews

5 Stars Amazing Blue Print For SEM!
I have never met Kris Jones, but know many people in the Internet marketing industry who have a lot of respect for him. I actually own an Internet marketing company, [...], and one of the services we offer is Internet marketing training.

We have created our own materials that we use in our training programs, but we are now making plans to use this book instead. The book is filled with the same information that we teach every day to our customers, but the way that it is laid out is extremely easy to understand and implement.

The last thing I must say is that Kris isn’t a “feel good” kind of guy. He says it how it is. Internet marketing is an extremely time consuming thing and he tells you that. There are no “black hat” techniques taught that will get you banned from the SERPS.

This book could (and really should) be used in college level marketing degree curriculum’s.

4 Stars Lot of information
I browsed through this book at the local book store and was immediately impressed by the quality of information presented. The reason for my 4 star rating is that after I bought the book and started getting into the details, I found that some of the websites mentioned were not functional anymore. I found 2-3 links like that. But other than that I think that this is one book in SEO that every webmaster should own.

5 Stars The best money I’ve spent on SEO/SEM Strategies
As the owner of a web design firm that offers a growing bundle of SEO services, I have spent thousands of dollars staying up-to-date with the latest strategies for search engine optimization.

But despite the big-name conferences I’ve attended, this $30 book is the best investment I’ve made in SEO.

The author does a phenomenal job of covering every phase of the process. In fact, I hit Amazon this evening, because I’m buying 4 more copies that will be distributed to every part of my team… 1 for our lead web programmer, 1 for the people doing keyword research, 1 for our copywriter and 1 for the people who focus on link building strategies. There’s stuff in here from which everybody can benefit.

I also appreciate how it’s organized. If you like text - there’s a section in each chapter with text. If you prefer pictures, the second part of each chapter is chock full of diagrams and images that would allow somebody to learn a lot with minimal reading.

I highly recommend this book.

5 Stars Useful for amateurs, semi-professional as well as professional web designers
This is a very useful book with a lot of good, practical ideas. It is well written and understandable. It is easy to use; it is divided into one or two-page sections (”Optimize Title Tags,” “Article Directory Submissions,” etc.) so you can carry out one suggestion at a time, as you have the time. It would be useful to people who do not know HTML, but it is most useful to those who do know it.

5 Stars informative, well written, and well designed
I am so lucky to initally have found this book at our small public library. It is inforamtive, well written, and well designed.

Thanks for bringing me up to speed so quickly and easily. I didn’t even know what PPC, CTR , or the other basics of internet marketing was!

User Ratings and Reviews

2 Stars 5-star reviews were written by author’s friends
This book too general. Talks a lot about tips for running your business in general. That’s not what I need. I was looking for Google tips exclusively.

If you read the wording of all those 5-star reviews, they are a joke. Not written by actual buyers, most likely the author’s friends.

5 Stars Great Book!! Really improved our sales in Google!!
Excellent book, We like it a lot.

Our sales in Google really improved!!

5 Stars Excellent AdWords Manual.
Perry and Bryan did a wonderful job on this volume. This is a must-have for anyone running AdWords campaigns. The book opens your eyes to many important things.

The only criticism that I have is about the continuous references to the Overture’s Keyword Selector Tool which has been inaccessible for almost a year now. It seems that it is already time for the authors to edit the “Ultimate Guide to Google AdWords” to rely more on Wordtracker or a similar tool.

Overall, excellent job on the book, gentlemen. Quick and extremely informative read. Took me a transatlantic flight to read, and boy, did I find a number of hidden gems in it!

I am still giving it a 5-star rating (regardless of that Overture comment).

Thank you,

Evgenii “Geno” Prussakov

/Author of “A Practical Guide to Affiliate Marketing” & “Online Shopping Through Consumers’ Eyes”/

3 Stars Too Macho for my tastes
The book is full of ‘I did this’ and ‘I did that’ with little nitty gritty of ‘How I did this’ and ‘How I did that’.

I am sure that I will extract value from the book but the testosterone charged, ‘I’m the best’ just gets to me.

5 Stars Hit The Nail On The Head
The Ultimate Guide to Google Adwords by Perry Marshall is exactly what the title says. Several e-commerces opt to do online marketing through Adwords but know little about how to run their campaign, thus costing them a fortune. With this book, you will learn the algorithms of Google, how Adwords works and more importantly you will learn how to save yourself frustration and money by properly running your account. Overall, you will be making one big step in the right direction in terms of your business and its overall success. Definite thumbs up!
